Park takes learning outdoors

A new outdoor classroom will help local youngsters and community groups get an insight into wildlife in Christchurch Park.

The Papworth Trust and Friends of Christchurch Park paid for the new facility and Wildlife Ranger Joe Underwood said: “We are very grateful to them for their generous support and hope the outdoor classroom will become a valuable educational resource and prove popular with schools and organisations. There is so much wildlife in the park and we are here to teach the public about it.”

The new classroom was built by craftsman Richard King, who runs the Magic Garden Shed company.

Nicola Johnson, Chair of the Friends of Christchurch Park, said: “This is an excellent new facility which will help Rangers and ourselves get the wildlife message across. We are delighted that it is now finished and we are sure it will be well used by schools and local organisations.”
