Retail grants on offer for local businesses

Published18th July 2019

The scheme, which has been allocated £25,000, will see new and existing independent businesses in Ipswich receive Town Centre Retail Grants of up to £1,000 to improve the visual look and appearance of their shop front.

The application window for grants to be awarded is now open.

All freehold owners and leaseholders with at least 5 years left on their lease within Ipswich town centre are eligible to apply.

The funding is suitable for any works needed to fit out or improve the look of a shop (e.g. redecoration, fixtures, fittings and signage), as well as any equipment that will make a business more efficient.

Councillor David Ellesmere, Ipswich Borough Council leader said: “We are committed to enhancing Ipswich’s vibrant and mixed retail offer and the introduction of these grants will do just that by giving local businesses the support they need to grow, as well as helping to improve the local environment and raise the image of the town centre amongst locals and visitors."
