Cyclists of all ages and abilities are looking forward to the summer when they can take part in the fifth annual Crafted Classique sportive event.

The sportive will be held on Saturday 11th August, starting and finishing on Ipswich’s iconic Waterfront, so you have plenty to time to dust down your bike and get into training.

You can take advantage of a the great early bird offer of just £22 if you register by 16th April – sign up now at www.ipswichcyclingweekend.co.uk/crafted-classique

Digital agency Crafted, British Cycling and a number of local organisations are sponsoring the Crafted Classique, including Ipswich Borough Council, Elmy Cycles, John Banks Honda, Allied Health Professionals, Suffolk New College, University of Suffolk, Palmer Group and Fred Olsen Cruises.

Participants pedal off from Ipswich’s Waterfront and ride through some beautiful countryside, choosing how many miles they want to go – 55km, 100km or a rather more challenging 100 miles.

This year, the sportive is also open to vintage bicycles taking part in the Crafted Classique Retro Ride, letting cyclists show off their two-wheeled wonders as they take a leisurely spin alongside a group of like-minded enthusiasts.

The sportive is famous for being family friendly, with a mini Crafted Classique ride available for the children, a display area for the retro bikes and refreshments for all, turning the finishing line near Cult Café into a carnival atmosphere. Last year, more than 700 people took part.

If you do take part you will also be raising money for the Classique’s charity partner, St Elizabeth Hospice, which provides vital care and support to more than 2,000 local people and their families.

Joanne Rodger, Events and Challenges Manager for St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Crafted Classique team as their charity partner for the second year. The family-friendly event has become an important challenge in the cycling calendar as it grows in popularity every year, so we’re expecting to see even more of our supporters getting in involved after the success of last year’s event.”

Ian Miller, CEO of Crafted, said: “We’re proud to be supporting the Crafted Classique for the fifth year running. The event which appeals to all cycling abilities, has grown brilliantly year-on-year and we’re expecting an even higher turnout for 2018. Cycling has always been a big feature of Crafted life and we’re looking forward to joining the start line once again on 11th August.”

Registration is now open now and you can take advantage of the early bird sign up offer of just £22 until 16 April. More information about how to enter is available via www.ipswichcyclingweekend.co.uk/crafted-classique and you can follow @Craftedclassiq on Facebook or Twitter for sportive updates.
