Silence for London

Published6th June 2017

The Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Sarah Barber, led the official one minute’s silence today at the Town Hall in memory of the victims of the London terror attack.

The Mayor was joined by many of the town’s civic, community and faith leaders.

She told people gathered in the rain: "We are here to honour the victims of the London attack at the weekend. It is particularly sad that we have gathered here again, so soon after we stood here following the Manchester atrocity. And now more innocent lives have been lost and families have been torn apart with grief. But we must all stand together in the face of evil and I thank you all for expressing solidarity."

The Mayor has written to London Mayor Sadiq Khan on behalf of the people of Ipswich to express solidarity and sorrow over the attack.
