Splashing time at Crown Pools

Published31st March 2016

It’s a busy time at Crown Pools as organisers prepare for the first of two Easter holiday pools parties.

Hundreds of people are expected to have a splashing time on Friday evening (and don’t forget to book to guarantee a place) and staff are reporting a good turn-out for casual activities at the pool and Profiles fitness suite.

To book for the party please go to https://sportbookings.ipswich.gov.uk/bookings/ibc. You will need a valid iCard but you can always turn up on the night (it starts at 6pm) on a first come, first served basis. Cost: £2.

The recent Crown Pools Swimathon was also a big success, with nearly 50 people swimming between 1.5k (60 lengths) and 5K (200) lengths. Swimmers collected sponsorship with the proceeds going towards Sport Relief.

The youngest swimmer taking part was just eight and 11 year-old Amalie was the youngest to achieve 200 lengths.

The Ipswich Swimathon was part of a national event which saw more than 23,000 swimmers covering 90,000 metres.

Lisa Mills, Duty Manager at Crown Pools, said: “We want to say a big ‘well done’ to everyone who took part of came to support our swimmers. It was a fantastic performance and raised money for a very good cause.”

Crown Pools is open from 7.30am weekdays (from 7.45am at weekends) and is available for public swimming, apart from pre-booked club sessions. Parking at £1 an hour (and just £1 for afternoon and evening parking after 3pm on weekdays) is available at Crown car park and William Street car park.
