Ipswich Borough Council is advising people to take extra care, particularly in parks and open spaces, with Storm Dennis forecast to bring strong winds on Saturday and Sunday.
Parks and cemeteries are set to open normally on Saturday morning but could close at short notice, said a spokesman. “Heavy rain is also forecast over the weekend and people’s safety always comes first. Many of our open spaces cannot be locked so people should take extra care and avoid wooded areas in high winds.”
If the storm persists into Sunday, the Council will take a decision on opening parks as early as possible on that morning.
Closure of Christchurch Park on Saturday or Sunday will affect Christchurch Mansion opening times – if the park is closed, so too will the Mansion. Please check for updates on Twitter @IpswichGov and in the local Press.
Last weekend, parks staff were kept busy clearing fallen trees and branches in the wake of Storm Ciara. “It is hard to predict exactly when and how strong this latest storm will be but we always advise residents to take precautions.”
