Super-heroes come in from the cold, thanks to Sailmakers

Published1st February 2019

Even super-heroes feel the cold! That is why organisers have moved this weekend’s Ipswich town centre “Hero Quest” event into Sailmakers Shopping Centre.

The free fun day on Saturday between 10am and 2pm will give shoppers the opportunity to meet super-heroes and princesses, and youngsters are encouraged to dress up to look the part themselves.

A spokesman for the Borough Council said today: “The very cold conditions look set to continue and it wouldn’t be much fun to stand outside on the Cornhill for four hours with nothing more than a cape or a tiara to keep off the worst of winter. That is why our friends at Sailmakers have kindly offered the performers some warmth and shelter so the show, as they say, will go on!”

The activities will be based mostly on the second floor of Sailmakers but the super-heroes cannot be restrained so will wander about meeting people at will. A free selfie booth and virtual reality feature, accompanied by arch baddie Thanos, will add to the fun and the Batman Tumbler vehicle will greet visitors by the Iceland entrance on Sailmakers’ upper mall.

The Council spokesman added: “It’s cold enough when you’re wrapped up in a hat and a coat but our fabulous cast have little protection. He might have saved the world on numerous occasions but even Superman will appreciate a bit of shelter and we are very grateful to Sailmakers for stepping in at short notice.”

Sailmakers Manager Mike Sorhaindo said: “It’s not often you get the chance to come to the rescue of super-heroes so we were delighted to step in and offer them a nice warm venue for Saturday. We always enjoy hosting events here and I’m sure there will be a big turnout and we’re especially looking forward to seeing as many local super-heroes turn up in costume as possible.”
