Volunteers help make our past an exciting present

Published6th November 2017

Ipswich’s museums service has around 50 volunteers helping to deliver exciting events and exhibitions to people living in Suffolk and beyond.

Some volunteers have been assisting for many years, others have just joined. Together, their hard work adds up to more than 2,000 hours of time.

Councillor Carole Jones, Museums portfolio-holder at the Borough Council, said: “Our volunteers do a great job and I want to thank all of them for their dedication. They welcome visitors, gather feedback from them, help with conservation and, in one case, made a film showcasing our volunteers programme. They are invaluable to us and to Ipswich.”

Cllr Jones is pictured at Christchurch Mansion with some of the volunteers. The volunteering film can be seen at www.cimuseums.org.uk/volunteering
