The new St Peter’s car park on the Waterfront will be opening on Wednesday 16th August. The new car park will be open in time for this year’s Maritime Festival, which offers fun and frolics by the Waterfront on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August.
Ipswich Borough Council has been preparing the site next to Stoke Bridge to provide spaces for nearly 100 vehicles. Additional motorbike parking will be available from September.
When the car park opens it will mean the Council is operating three car parks on or close to the Waterfront – St Peter’s, Fore Street and Athena Hall (off Duke Street).
The St Peter’s car park tariff will be £1.20 an hour and customers can take advantage of the new £2 after 2pm offer during the week.
Council Leader David Ellesmere said: “This car park will increase capacity in this part of the town while we prepare our plans for re-development of the area. The Council is committed to offering good value to motorists across the town to help visitors and businesses so our advice is to shop around and not pay more.”
