Young BBC music star in Ipswich

Sensational young cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason is the soloist in Ipswich Symphony Orchestra’s autumn concert at the Corn Exchange.

The BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016 will be playing Shostakovich’s 1st Cello Concerto, the work that won him the competition, along with Rachmaninov’s 2nd Symphony in an all-Russian programme.

The concert takes place on Saturday 25th November and Adam Gatehouse will be conductor.

Sheku is only 18 but his international career is developing rapidly, with concerts in Europe and a US tour planned for 2018.
