Council assists with on-street parking

Published24th March 2020

Ipswich residents who have Resident Parking Permits for Zones 1 to 4 can now use some Ipswich Borough car parks in a move by the Council to ease on-street parking problems caused by more people staying at home.

There is now more need to park in residents’ parking zones in Ipswich streets, so the Council has devised the following scheme:

  • Zone 1 permit-holders can park in the Regent (bottom of Woodbridge Road), Fore Street, Upper Orwell Street South (formerly Upper Barclay Street); car parks.
  • Zone 2 permit-holders can park in William Street (next to Crown Pools) and Norwich Road Shoppers car park.
  • Zone 3 permit-holders can park in Smart Street, Bond Street and Upper Orwell South car parks.
  • Zone 4 permit-holders can park in the Council’s Portman Road car parks.

There is no charge for Resident Permit-holders to use the car parks – and no time restrictions apply. All Resident Permit-holders in Zones 1 to 4 will be contacted shortly by email on the email address registered with the Council’s online permit provider.

Nothing needs to be displayed in your vehicle. Simply ensure the correct vehicle registration number is on your virtual permit and you are covered.

For any queries please go to the FAQs section on the Residents Parking Zone Page on our website www.ipswich.gov.uk/coronavirus-impact-residents-parking or look for the email being sent to the email address you use with your online Resident Parking Permit account.
