What is a re-rating request?
A re-rating request allows you, as the food business operator, to ask for another inspection after you have made improvements following an initial food hygiene inspection. This gives you the opportunity to receive a new food hygiene rating that reflects the changes you have implemented.
Requesting another inspection
You must provide details of the improvements you have made, and include any evidence to support your request.
Cost of re-rating inspection
The cost of each re-rating inspection is £120. You can make the payment online.
What happens next
If we find that you have provided enough evidence to show that the required improvements have been made, we will carry out an unannounced inspection within 3 months of receiving your request.
We will give you a new food hygiene rating based on the level of compliance at the time of the re-rating inspection. Please note that your rating could go up, down, or stay the same.
