Equality and Diversity Panel

You are here

The Equality and Diversity Panel is a service user and community reference panel and is part of the Council's new decision making structure 'Taking decision making closer to the people'.

The Panel's main remit is to identify issues and actions relating to equalities and to recommend priorities and targets for the Community Strategy and the Council's Business Plan. The Panel also acts as the Council's 'critical friend' in supporting the Council's compliance with the Equality Duty by taking part in the equality impact analysis of key Council policies and proposals.

The Equality and Diversity Panel provides for 15 community members drawn from a range of community organisations and individuals who have knowledge and experience on equality issues in the borough. If you are interested in being a community member, please contact us for more details.
