Monthly Walkabouts and Talkabouts

As part of our tenant engagement calendar, Ipswich Borough Council‘s monthly activities in local areas are designed to bring tenants, leaseholders, councillors, housing officers, staff and tenant representatives together to make a difference where it matters most.

Following on from our highly successful 2026 Walkabouts, we are now committed to ensuring that opportunities to talk to our different service areas are not disrupted by the unpredictable seasons ahead. We have tailored our upcoming Talkabout events to take place at various communal spaces around the town.

Tenants are invited to attend these drop-in sessions that will focus on various themes involving Ipswich Borough Council's service areas.

We will be gathering feedback on issues raised including any events tenants wish to see in the future. For example locations, timings, and the focus of the Talkabouts.

Walkabouts

We are planning ahead for our next cycle of Walkabouts. With the approaching warmer and hopefully drier seasons ahead, Ipswich Borough Council welcome tenants and leaseholders to join us on estate tours. Meet with ward councillors, Housing Officers and housing staff to identify areas of improvement in your area.

Priory Heath Ward - 25th March 2026
Meet Housing Officer Scott Orr at Coniston square for a walkabout around Nansen road, Rands way, onto Nacton Crescent.
Whitton Ward - 7th April 2026
Meet Housing Officer Abbie Blagden at the beginning of Spenser Road to cover the road and Thackeray Road.
Westgate Ward - 21st April 2026
Meet Housing Officer Skye Huffey at Bedford Street, where it meets St Georges Street. Walkabout to cover St Georges Street, Bedford Street and Berners Street.
Gipping Ward - 6th May 2026
Meet Housing Officer Nicola Mortimore on the green where Campion Road and Speedwell Road meet. To cover Campion and Speedwell.
Bibb Way Gipping Ward - 2nd June 2026
Meet Housing Officers Tracie Ollivander and Sarah Tebbutt at the walkway between Handford Road and Bibb Way to cover the new development.
Holywells Ward - 9th June 2026
Meet Housing Officer Ryan Chivers at Reydon House on Clapgate Lane for a walkabout of Landseer Road and nearby areas.
All Walkabouts start at 10am and last for up to 2 hours.

Gainsborough Housing surgeries – Meet your local housing officer and colleagues

The following dates are an opportunity for you to meet Ryan Chivers, Housing Officer for the Gainsborough area plus some helpful colleagues.

Thursday 26th February 2026 10:00am- 12:00pm – Meet our Income team
Our income officers can answer questions around your rent. They can also check to see if you are eligible can claim any Benefits or increase your income. Your area Income Officer is Seyithan and he will be on hand to provide advice including a free Money Advice service with Anglia Care Trust.
