Our Housing Options Team will work to identify housing issues early to help prevent you from becoming homeless. This will be achieved by working in partnership with other agencies to ensure you receive the necessary support.
If you are experiencing a mental health illness or impairment, the council may consider you "vulnerable" and therefore in "priority need" for accommodation. This determination will be made following an assessment of your personal circumstances.
We will review the advice and advocacy services available to you and aim to connect you with outreach support services according to your needs. This will be done through the Personal Housing Plan, which will be completed in partnership with you and possibly your advocate, if you have one.
If you need housing advice, assistance, and support with your housing needs, please contact Ipswich Borough Council’s Housing Options Team.
Help finding housing
Private rented sector:
You might try finding housing in the private rented sector. The Council’s Housing Options Team can advise you on what housing is available locally and how to apply for Universal Credit or Housing Benefit to help with your housing costs.
Council or housing association home:
As a longer-term option, you might also consider applying for a council home or a housing association home.
