Introduction to Apprenticeships

You are here

Apprenticeships are a great paid work opportunity for people over the age of 16 in England who are:

  • early in their career
  • looking to upskill in their current job
  • looking for a career-change
  • not in full-time education

An Apprenticeship combines employment with training giving apprentices the opportunity to learn new skills, gain invaluable experience, gain a qualification, and set out a pathway for their career all whilst being paid.

Ipswich Borough Council have been supporting Apprentices for over four decades in a range of careers including carpentry, horticulture, accounting, business administration, human resources, housing officers and surveyors.

An Apprenticeship with Ipswich Borough Council is a great way to kick start your career, upskill, or make a career change, look at the pages in this section for more information on all things Apprenticeship related including current vacancies, and meeting some of our existing and previous Apprentices.
