Ipswich Borough Council has formally adopted new byelaws which aim to protect the environment and wildlife, as well as tackle anti-social behaviour in its parks.

The new byelaws replace those made in 1983 and were approved by the Secretary of State in June 2023, with the public consulted on changes in early 2024.

Councillor Lucy Trenchard, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Parks and Climate Change, says:

"We’re pleased to see our new byelaws coming into effect, which will ensure our parks are protected for future generations. The new byelaws mark a significant step towards preserving the natural beauty and ecological balance of our green spaces, while also creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

“By implementing these regulations, we aim to foster greater community engagement, encourage responsible use, and ensure that our parks remain cherished assets for years to come."
