For the fourth year running, the Ipswich Half Marathon is heading back into town this Sunday, 21 September.
We’re again delighted to be working as a supporting partner with Run For All to organise the event along its 13.1 mile route, starting and ending at the Ipswich Town FC Portman Road stadium.
Widely known as the region’s most popular and inclusive half marathon event, participants of all abilities and ages will be taking on the challenge, whether it be for fundraising efforts or personal achievement.
The runners head off at 9.30am, into the town centre and around Holywells Park, on to the Waterfront area, up Wherstead Road and past The Strand, along the river towards the Orwell Bridge, and all the way to Freston Village, before heading back along the route for a big finish at the stadium.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, says:
“It’s going to be another fantastic day for the town, centred around running, fundraising and community spirit.
“Whether you’re one of the hundreds of runners taking part, or plan to be among the thousands of spectators lining the streets of Ipswich to cheer them on, it promises to be a great occasion for everyone once more!
“We’re asking drivers to be aware of road closures on Sunday, in the town centre and beyond, scheduled to start at Sir Alf Ramsey Way and Constantine Road from 5:00am onwards. Other roads along the Half Marathon route are due to be closed from 8:30am. A list of expected road closures, including approximate times for re-opening, is provided below.”

Ipswich Half Marathon 2025 - Road Closures and Parking Suspension
In accordance with traffic authority regulations set by Suffolk County Council as the Highways Authority, an order has been made prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads and road junctions by vehicles in order to facilitate the safe holding of the Ipswich Half Marathon.
The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions on Sunday 21 September, as well as the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders from 18:00 on Saturday 20 September to 13:30 on Sunday 21 September.
Please note, all roads either crossing or having a junction with the listed roads will also be closed at that point. Access for emergency service vehicles will be retained throughout the duration of the event.
The Ipswich Half Marathon will run to a target completion time of 3.5 hours and roads on the course will be re-opened as soon afterwards as it’s safe to do so.
