Council to award £72,000 of funding

Grafton House

Ipswich Borough Council’s Executive will consider a report setting out Community Cash Grant Awards of £72,000 for 2026/27 when it meets this evening, Tuesday 10 February.

Community Cash Grants form part of the Council’s wider budget and support frameworks for the voluntary and community sector in Ipswich. The grants support the Council’s corporate priorities around community wellbeing, fairness, and supporting vulnerable residents.

The report recommends how the Council’s Community Cash Grant funding should be allocated to support these organisations:

  • Ipswich Housing Action Group – £17,500
  • Suffolk Refugee Support – £6,500
  • Ipswich & District Citizens Advice – £48,000

Councillor John Cook, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Sport, said:

“These Community Cash Grant Awards for 2026/27 will help ensure that vital local organisations can continue delivering frontline support for residents when it is most needed. The recommended award allocations reflect a fair, transparent process and strong alignment with our Community Grant Policy.

“We are backing organisations that make a significant difference every day: helping people facing homelessness, supporting those in need to rebuild their lives, and providing essential advice to households under pressure. These grants are an investment in the wellbeing, resilience and fairness of our communities.”
