Ipswich’s full Council met last night (14 January 2026) and agreed an increase of 4.8% to council housing rents, garage, and hard standing charges from 1 April 2026, in line with Government guidance. This will ensure continued investment in council and affordable housing, including the ongoing commitment to high quality existing housing, and building new, affordable homes.
Cllr Alasdair Ross, Ipswich Borough Council portfolio holder for Housing, said:
“This adjustment, based on the September CPI rate of 3.8% plus 1%, is essential to maintain and improve our housing stock, deliver new affordable homes for Ipswich, and ensure a financially sustainable service for our tenants.”
