Ipswich Borough Council is delighted to announce that its Waste and Cleansing Team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the APSE Service Awards 2026 in the category of Best Service Team of the Year: Streetscene.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the team has been recognised as a finalist, highlighting its continued commitment to delivering high-quality environmental services for residents, businesses and visitors across the town.
The APSE Service Awards celebrate excellence in frontline local authority services across the UK, recognising teams that demonstrate innovation, efficiency and outstanding service delivery. The winners will be announced at the APSE Service Awards ceremony on Thursday 17 September 2026.
The award submission showcased the innovative work being undertaken by Ipswich Borough Council’s Waste and Cleansing Team to deliver sustainable solutions that support the Council’s Corporate Strategy and Waste Plan. The team works closely with residents, staff and community groups to encourage positive environmental change, with a strong focus on increasing recycling rates and enhancing the town centre environment.
A key part of this work has been the modernisation of the town centre litter bin collection infrastructure, improving operational efficiency while contributing to cleaner streets and better environmental outcomes. Through targeted projects and ongoing community engagement, the team continues to promote positive recycling behaviours and support a cleaner Ipswich.
