Ipswich Borough Council launches £1.5m Pride in Place Impact Fund to benefit Community Buildings

Ipswich Borough Council is inviting applications for its new Pride in Place Impact Fund, as part of a £1.5m investment awarded to Ipswich through national Pride in Place funding.

The fund aims to strengthen local communities by supporting projects that improve or create community spaces, refurbish cultural and heritage sites, and enhance facilities that promote health, well-being, and community cohesion.

Eligible projects may include taking ownership of disused community assets, existing community-owned or operated buildings, or upgrading galleries, theatres, museums, libraries, sports facilities, or cultural venues.

Applications are open now until 5pm on Friday 27 February 2026. There is no upper or lower limit for funding requests, and grants will be awarded based on the potential community outcomes of each project. This is capital funding, meaning it must be spent on building fabric, indoor spaces, large equipment, and associated costs.

Cllr Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said:

"This funding is a fantastic opportunity to invest in the spaces that bring our communities together. By improving and creating places where people can connect, learn and thrive, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive Ipswich. We are committed to supporting community-driven projects that reflect local priorities and empower residents to shape the future of their neighbourhoods. I encourage local organisations to come forward with ideas that will make a real difference to our town."

To complete the initial Expression of Interest form, interested organisations will simply need to provide an indicative funding amount, details of what the grant will be spent on, and how local people will benefit with successful applicants from the Expressions of Interest stage asked for further information if their project is considered for the funding.

Organisations can find out more about their eligibility by visiting the Council’s website: Pride in Place Impact Fund – Community Buildings Fund | ipswich.gov.uk
