Ipswich Borough Council has now completed deliveries to the scheduled 50,821 households due to receive additional recycling bins as part of the new Simpler (Better) Recycling scheme.

Delivery teams are currently working through communal bin stores and properties with communal collection systems. To date, bins have been delivered to 621 locations, representing approximately 66% of these properties and around 9,900 dwellings. The remaining deliveries are expected to be completed this week.

Residents on alternative collection arrangements are also receiving recycling infrastructure tailored to their existing agreements.

The Council would like to remind residents living near Borough boundaries that some roads are serviced by both Ipswich Borough Council and neighbouring district authorities. As a result, Ipswich residents may already have received their containers, while neighbouring properties served by other councils may not yet have done so. Residents are encouraged to check which local authority manages their waste collections and contact the relevant council if they believe they have been missed.

Ipswich Borough Council residents who believe they have not received their containers, or who have missing items, should report this via the Council’s website: Better Recycling | ipswich.gov.uk

The Council would also like to remind residents that Simpler Recycling is a national scheme mandated by Central Government. Ipswich Borough Council is therefore legally required to provide additional containers to support the new recycling arrangements.

Ipswich Borough Council remains on track to launch the new Simpler Recycling service on 1 June 2026.
