Children and families can now enjoy a brand-new play area at Ellenbrook Park, with a range of bug and nature-inspired features designed to encourage imaginative, active and inclusive play.
Designed for children aged two to 10-years-old, the play area includes eight new pieces of equipment with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive play. Features include swings, a wheelchair-accessible carousel, an inclusive seesaw and sensory musical elements.
The project is one of a number of improvements being delivered through Ipswich Borough Council's £3.5 million Play Area Strategy, which is investing in modern, high-quality play facilities across the town.
Councillor Stefan Long, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sport, said:
"It's fantastic to see this new play area open and ready to welcome local children and families. The equipment has been thoughtfully designed around a nature theme, bringing something a little different to Ellenbrook Park and encouraging children to use their imagination while staying active outdoors.
"Accessibility has been a key consideration throughout the project, and we're proud to have created a space where children can play happily alongside one another.
"Play areas are an important part of our parks and communities, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to providing enjoyable outdoor spaces for residents across Ipswich."
