For the fifth year running, the Larking Gowan Ipswich Half Marathon is heading back into town and the 2026 race takes place on Sunday, 27 September.
We’re again delighted to be working as a supporting partner with Run For All to organise the event along its 13.1 mile route, starting and ending on Constantine Road.
Widely known as the region’s most popular and inclusive half marathon event, participants of all abilities and ages will be taking on the challenge, whether it be for fundraising efforts or personal achievement.
The runners head off at 9.30am, into the town centre and around Holywells Park, on to the Waterfront area, up Wherstead Road and past The Strand, along the river towards the Orwell Bridge, and looping all the way around Freston Village. Then they’ll be heading back along The Strand, Wherstead Road, Grafton Way and Commercial Way returning to Constantine Road for the big finish.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, says: “It’s going to be another fantastic day for the town, centred around running, fundraising and community spirit.
“Whether you’re one of the hundreds of runners taking part, or plan to be among the thousands of spectators lining the streets of Ipswich to cheer them on, it promises to be a great occasion for everyone once more!
“We’re asking drivers to be aware of road closures and diversions on Sunday 27 September, in the town centre and beyond, and parking suspensions in place on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Roads around the Ipswich Town FC stadium will be closed from 04:00 onwards on the Sunday. Other roads along the Half Marathon route will be closing at 8:30am, and reopening on a rolling basis between 10:15 and 15:00.”
