Pre-application advice

The new pre-application charging schedule was implemented as of 1 October 2024.

We will endeavour to provide a written response within six weeks of your application being received.

We provide advice to help you improve your planning application, increasing the chance of your application being granted planning permission.

If applicants use the Ipswich Borough Council pre-application advice service, the Council will undertake certain internal and external consultations and report responses received to the applicant. 

Please note many external consultees now charge for pre-application advice. This must be sought separately. This now includes the Local Highway Authority (Suffolk County Council).
