Submission of the Ipswich Local Plan
On 14th December 2015, Ipswich Borough Council submitted its Core Strategy and Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) Review and Site Allocations and Policies (incorporating IP-One Area Action Plan) DPD (together known as the Ipswich Local Plan) to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The Secretary of State appointed Mr Malcolm Rivett BA (Hons) MSc MRTPI to conduct an independent Examination of the two DPDs, which took place during 2016.
Inspector’s report received
On 17th January 2017, the Council received the Inspector’s Report on the Examination of the Ipswich Local Plan, in which the Inspector sets out and justifies his recommendations.
The Inspector’s Report concludes that the Ipswich Local Plan is ‘sound’ and that it provides an appropriate basis for the planning of the Borough, provided that a number of main modifications are made.

Public notice
The Inspector’s Report and the Local Plan documents, incorporating the Inspector’s main modifications, are to be considered by the Council’s Executive Committee on 7th February 2017 and the full Council on 22nd February 2017. The modified Core Strategy and Policies DPD Review and Site Allocations and Policies (incorporating IP-One Area Action Plan) DPD will be recommended to the Council for adoption. Upon adoption they would form the Ipswich Local Plan and the development plan for development management purposes (under section 38(6) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act as amended).
