About the Towns Fund

What is the Towns Fund?

The Towns Fund is a scheme launched by the Government for towns such as Ipswich to boost economic productivity and support sustainable growth. Ipswich is one of the 101 towns across the country eligible to bid for the fund. A Town Deal Board has been established to help develop proposals for a Town Deal.

Funding and proposals

The Government has agreed to provide up to £25m to help deliver projects proposed by the Ipswich Town Deal Board.

Ipswich Borough Council’s role

Ipswich Borough Council is the ‘accountable body’ for Ipswich Town Fund work. The area associated with the Ipswich Town Fund bid is the Ipswich Borough Council area. This web page sets out information on the Town Deal Board and the Town Investment Plan that was submitted to Government in December 2020.
