You are here

One of Suffolk's most treasured buildings, this beautiful Tudor mansion boasts 500 years of history.

Highlights include:

  • A Tudor kitchen
  • Georgian saloon
  • Victorian toys and games
  • Suffolk artists gallery - artists include Alfred Munnings, Camille Pissaro, Colin Moss and many more.
  • The Wolsey Art Gallery - see works by Thomas Gainsborough and the finest collection of John Constable paintings outside of London. For more information visit Ipswich Art Collection.

We aim to open all galleries at all times. However, occasionally galleries need to be closed at short notice due to conservation, maintenance works or events. If you are coming to the Mansion to see something in a specific gallery, please call us before you travel.

We bring art and history to life in a fun way with our events programme for families and adults. Events include appearances by historical characters, craft and art workshops, talks and quizzes.

Check out what's on at our museum from April - September 2019.

The Friends of Ipswich Museums offer free short daily tours of the Mansion called 'A Peep into the Past'. These take place at 11am, Tuesday - Saturday and 2pm on Sunday (March to October only). PLEASE NOTE THESE TOURS ARE NOT CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED.
