Ipswich Borough Council has launched a public consultation on proposals to review the boundaries of three of its Air Quality Management Areas located in the town. The consultation will run for 5 weeks, from Wednesday 17th February 2021 to Wednesday 24th March 2021.
The consultation is open to everyone and we would like to hear your views on the document.
There are currently five AQMAs in Ipswich and the Council is now able to revoke the boundary of one AQMA and reduce the boundary of another AQMA due to falling levels of pollution. The boundary of one AQMA is also planned to be amended to better ensure improvements can be made.
Maps showing the locations of current areas are available on the DEFRA website via this link.
In summary, the proposed changes are as follows:
All changes were recommended in the detailed air quality assessment undertaken in November 2020.
More detailed information can be seen in the consultation document and the detailed Air Quality Assessment.
The closing date for this consultation is 24th March 2021. To contribute, please email your comments to: environmental.health@ipswich.gov.uk
All responses will be fully considered and, if appropriate, changes will be made to the proposals prior to any adoption by the Council in 2021.
