Disposing of paint

If you have less than five nearly empty tins of paint they can be disposed of in your black bin as long as the following action has been taken:

  • If the paint is emulsion, you must add some sand to the tin until the paint has been soaked up.
  • If the paint is gloss, it needs to be left out until the paint has gone hard.

Once this has been done you can place the tins into bags in your black bin.

To dispose of new or full tins of paint safely apply online using the button below, or email us a list of what you have for disposal, such as the number of tins and the type of waste they contain.

Asbestos waste

We will arrange for the collection of domestic asbestos waste from Ipswich households. This service is only for small items of waste e.g. a water tank; ironing board, up to 3 roofing sheets or a length of downpipe.

If the asbestos is to be removed from a dismantled shed, garage or outhouse, DEFRA guidelines class this as construction waste and it is liable for an additional charge.  Please contact a registered asbestos contractor for quotes.
