The Housing Ombudsman Service is set up by law to look at complaints involving the tenants and leaseholders of social housing landlords and other housing organisations registered with them. The service is fee, independent and impartial.
The Housing Ombudsman published a new Complaint Handling Code in July 2020, setting out good practice that will allow landlords to respond to complaints effectively and fairly. A copy of the code can be found here.
Landlords have been asked to self-assess against the Code by 31 December 2020 and publish the results. A copy of our self-assessment is published online here.
