Elections to elect members to a shadow council for a new local authority in the Ipswich and South Suffolk area is expected to be held on Thursday 6 May 2027. Further details will follow.

The election to elect a Combined County Mayor for Norfolk and Suffolk has been postponed until 2028.

BID ballot 2026

A ballot is to be held for a proposal of the Business Improvement District (BID) for Ipswich. The proposal is from Locus Management Solutions Limited (trading as Ipswich Central and All About Ipswich.) The previous ballot was successful in gaining a ‘yes’ vote in 2021, which is due to end in March 2027. This proposal is for a further 5 years from April 2027.  All business rate payers with a rateable value of £24,500 or more, situated in the BID geographical area will be eligible to vote.  The ballot will take place entirely by post, with ballot packs being dispatched around Thursday 18 June, and all votes must be returned by 5pm on Thursday 16 July 2026.
