Elections and referendums

Ipswich Borough Council has 48 Councillors from 16 wards, with three Councillors per ward. Elections are held in thirds (16 at a time) for a 4-year term. The current Council makeup is: Labour 38, Conservative 7, and Liberal Democrats 3.

Emergency proxy votes

If you were planning to vote in person or are someone’s proxy, but find you can’t visit a polling station, you’ll be able to apply for an emergency proxy vote up until 5pm on polling day.

Under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, every council in England and Wales must review all polling districts and places within 16 months starting from 1 October 2013.
