How to find us

To reach Ipswich by road, use the A12 or A14 and follow signs to Ipswich town centre.

There is no parking at Christchurch Mansion but it is located in the town centre. There are a number of car parks which you can use, the closest being William Street and the Regent Theatre car park.

The Mansion is a ten minute walk from Ipswich Museum, approximately 20 minutes from the railway station, and five minutes from Tower Ramparts bus station in the town centre.

Facilities

Gift Shop

The Mansion has a gift shop with a lovely range of books, posters, educational resources and gifts for all ages.

Tea Room

The Tea Room serves a range of hot and cold drinks, snacks, lunch and afternoon tea which are also available to take away. The Tea Room is run by Brad and Kate Firkins, who can be contacted to discuss any special requirements on 01473 433560.

Baby Changing

Baby changing facilities are available.

Accessibility

  • The main entrance has a set of double of doors. Staff greet visitors at this entrance so help is always at hand.
  • A manual wheelchair is available for use, if required. Please ask at reception.
  • Currently only the ground floor displays are accessible. Images and information about the upper floor rooms can be viewed in the China Room on the ground floor.
  • There are internal steps (with handrails) leading to the Wolsey Art Gallery. An accessible entrance can be found at the side of the mansion, accessed from the park. There is a low-level buzzer at this entrance to alert staff.
  • The Tea Room can also be accessed externally at the side of the Mansion. There is level access from inside the Mansion, although the doorway is narrow with a tight turning circle of 90° which may be difficult for some wheelchair users.
  • An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor.
  • There are hands-on and sensory experiences at various points throughout the Mansion.
  • We provide British Sign Language interpretation at selected events.
