The Reg Driver Visitor Centre was established through a £4.2 million Heritage Lottery Fund refurbishment of Christchurch Park. It serves as a hub for park information and education, and is available for meetings and events.
James 'Reg' Driver was the first chairman of the Friends of Christchurch Park, President of the Ipswich brand of the Royal British Legion and an Ipswich Borough Councillor (1976 - 1990). He spent his life serving both his home town of Ipswich and his country. During the Second World War, he served with the Royal Corps of Signals, was captured in north Africa and became a prisoner of war. Naming the visitor centre after him is a fitting tribute to a great man.
The Centre's main room can be hired for meetings and events. For more information, please contact the visitor centre reception.
The Reg Driver Visitor Centre is situated by the Bolton Lane entrance of Christchurch Park.
