Taxi and private hire licensing policy and appendices.

Ipswich Borough Council is the licensing and enforcement authority for Hackney Carriages (taxis), private hire vehicles and stretched limousines within the boundary of Ipswich.

Hackney Carriages (taxis) operate from taxi ranks and can be hailed in the street.

Private hire vehicles must be pre-booked through a licensed private hire operator.

Stretched limousines operating for hire and reward must be licensed, either as private hire vehicles or as public carriage vehicles (buses).
