TRO Proposals - Lloyds Avenue, Tower Ramparts, Queen Street & Cecil Road, Ipswich

The Council is carrying out a public consultation on proposals to make two Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) covering the above named streets, together with a legal order regarding the taxi rank on Lloyds Avenue. The details are as per the attached documentation, but in summary include:

the revocation of the taxi rank on the east side of Lloyds Avenue, to enable the widening of the footway for the purpose of allowing pavement licences for tables and chairs for outdoor food consumption
a revision to the length of the taxi rank on the west side of Lloyds Avenue and the creation of a 7 metre combined use parking bay, available for loading only between 5am and 10am every day and as part of the taxi rank at all other times
a change to the access restrictions on Lloyds Avenue, to prohibit motor vehicles at all times, but with exceptions for taxis and certain other vehicles
the introduction of new access restrictions on the section of Tower Ramparts to the east of the junction with Peel Street, to prohibit motor vehicles except for access and for taxis and certain other vehicles

They also include a reduction in the length of the loading bay on Queen Street to facilitate tree planting and the existing cycle parking facilities, and the reduction in the length of a residents parking bay on Cecil Road to facilitate a dropped crossing for an adjacent residential property.

If you should wish to make any objections or representations to either of the TROs or the taxi rank proposal then these must be submitted in writing to the address stated on the relevant notice and must be received by 11 August 2025. Any objections or representations must state the grounds on which they are made and may be published as part of any committee report into the proposals and. if so. will be publicly available to view.
