Ipswich Art Gallery

You are here

The Art Gallery shows exhibitions of international importance and provides a unique stage for local artists to show their work and to showcase the region's artistic talents.

Please note: Ipswich Art Gallery will re-open this summer with a new exhibition. The Moon: Meet our nearest neighbour is a touring exhibition and features fascinating objects such as a large inflatable Moon, scientific instruments, and actual Moon rock on loan from Bespoke Scientific, giving visitors the chance to discover what the Moon is made of, how it has influenced our history, culture and natural world, and how we have explored it from ancient times to the present and future. The exhibition will open from 31 July - 10 October 2021.

The Ipswich Art Gallery is the newest addition to Ipswich Museums.
How to find Ipswich Art Gallery, opening times and accessibility
Originally in a purpose-built late Victorian building, the functions of museum, library and gallery were combined. The library was removed in the early 20th century but the Art Gallery and the Museum continued to share premises into the 1970s.
Women 100 is a Government Equalities Office funded project that will celebrate 100 years of women getting the vote with an exhibition of women artists at Ipswich Art Gallery.
