The Government's revised Air Quality Strategy for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland was a direct response to the requirements of the Environment Act 1995. It set health-based standards and objectives covering seven pollutants.
The Ipswich Contaminated Land Strategy explains how we implement our duties outlined in the Government's Contaminated Land legislation.
Ipswich Borough Council must, by law, regulate certain types of factory and other activities such as dry cleaners. This is to reduce any pollution they may cause and, in particular, to help improve air quality.
