What is Digby?
Digby is Ipswich Borough Council’s digital assistant. Digby helps you quickly find information about the Council's services by answering your questions – either online when you use our website or over the phone when you call us. Digby is available to support you 24/7, 365 days a year, even when our offices are closed.

- Digby will appear in the bottom right-hand corner of any webpage on our website.
- You will see a 'Ask Digby' icon, when you open Digby a chat window will appear where you can ask your question or choose one of the frequently asked questions.
- You don't need an account or app to use Digby.

Is Digby accurate?
Yes. Digby uses approved Council information. If Digby can't answer your question, you will be directed to the correct team or webpage. If Digby doesn't understand your question, then try rephrasing it. If Digby still can't help, you will be connected to the right team or you can request to speak to a Customer Service advisor.
Can Digby make requests for me?
Digby can guide you through processes like reporting a missed bin or paying Council Tax. Digby cannot make decisions on applications, for anything needing personal details, Digby will direct you to a secure online form or to an advisor for support.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes, Digby doesn't ask for sensitive details and all data handling follows strict data protection rules. Digby doesn't retain any chat information, a new session is used each time. Phone calls follow the Council's standard data protection and monitoring policies. No conversations are recorded for marketing purposes.
