You are no longer able to pay council bills in cash at the Customer Services Centre.
The easiest way to pay is by Direct Debit but if you want to pay by cash you can use a network of Post Offices and Payzone outlets across Ipswich.
Ipswich Borough Council has taken the hassle out of paying council bills by giving residents the opportunity to pay at Post Offices and shops in their own communities.
More residents are paying their council tax, rent and other bills automatically by Direct Debit or online but we recognise that some people prefer not to. That is why we are widening choice for cash payments at no cost.
The council prints barcodes on all its bills, reminders and other payment documents. Residents can then present these documents at Post Offices and Payzones with their payments. If you have opted to receive eBilling, your bill will not have a barcode and you will not be able to pay it in cash at the Post Office or Payzone.
Customers will still be able to go to the Customer Services Centre to ask about their accounts. You can also telephone or email us.
Payzone is the most convenient way to pay your household bills, top up your mobile phone and make other payments, at your local shops.
Many Payzone retailers are open early morning to late night, 7 days a week.
There are 40 Payzones in Ipswich, all handily located in newsagents, neighbourhood stores and forecourts. They have been selected for their convenient locations, long opening hours and friendly service.
Take your payment and your bar-coded bill to any Payzone outlet. There is no additional transaction fee for this service. Check the Payzone website for your nearest outlet.
You will also be able to pay your council bills at Post Offices in Ipswich. Find out where your nearest Post Office is using the Branch Finder tool on the Post Office website.
