Emergency proxy votes

You are here

If you were planning to vote in person or are someone’s proxy, but find you can’t go to the polling station for reasons related to COVID-19, you’ll be able to apply for an emergency proxy vote up until 5pm on polling day (5 May).

This includes if you are:

  • self-isolating due to COVID-19
  • experiencing COVID-19 symptoms

How to apply

To apply for an emergency proxy vote, you will need to download and complete the application form below and return it via email to elections@ipswich.gov.uk.

Things to note

An emergency proxy cannot be used if:

  • you are a postal voter
  • it is after 5pm on polling day (5 May)

Please note: If you have a permanent proxy arrangement set up, but change your proxy appointment to a different person using the emergency proxy method, the newly appointed proxy will remain as your appointed proxy for future polls. You will need to make a fresh application to re-appoint your original proxy.
