Planning Policy

The Planning Policy Team prepares and reviews a wide range of strategic planning documents, including the Ipswich Local Plan, which are used in the long-term planning of the Borough and in the determination of planning applications.

Premises Licence

Any business or individual (aged at least 18) that wishes to conduct licensable activities on a premises are required to apply for a Premises Licence from Ipswich Borough Council. A premises is defined as any place, including vehicles, vessels and moveable structures.

Sex Establishments

Ipswich Borough Council has adopted amendments made to Schedule 3 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, and all forms of sex establishment will now require a licence with the Council.

Sport and fitness

Ipswich Borough Council is the largest fitness provider in Ipswich, Suffolk with three gyms, two pools, court hire and a variety of fitness classes.

Taxi licensing

Hackney Carriages (taxis), Private hire vehicles and Stretched limousines, as well as their drivers and operators, are required to be licensed by Ipswich Borough Council.

Temporary Event Notice (TEN)

A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) is required if you intend to carry out a licensable activity on unlicensed premises, or wish to operate outside the terms of your existing Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate. 

You can apply online where you will first need to register to use the online system if you are not already registered.

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is a new, single payment for people in or out of work introduced by the Government. It is an in or out of work benefit and has been introduced to give you the support you need to find and progress in work.
