Applications open for Ipswich Music Day 2023

Published16th January 2023

Applications are now open for aspiring musicians to apply for their chance to perform at Ipswich Music Day 2023.

Taking place in Christchurch Park on Sunday 2 July 2023, Ipswich Music Day organised by Ipswich Borough Council and its sponsors, is the UK’s biggest free one-day music festival.

Giving performers, musicians, and bands the chance to perform in front of thousands of people across one of six stages, the event is a fantastic opportunity for up-and-coming artists to showcase their talent.

The music event also provides plenty of entertainment for the whole family with fairground rides for children and adults, street food, and a marketplace.

Although there are no fees or expenses for performers, the event provides a platform to local talent on the day and in the build up to the event through the event’s collaboration with Ipswich Community Radio.

Councillor Sophie Connelly, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Culture and Customers, says: “We’re proud to be celebrating the 33rd anniversary of Ipswich Music Day this summer, which is set to bring another fantastic celebration of music, culture, and local talent to Christchurch Park.

The free event is a brilliant opportunity for performers of all musical styles and genres to showcase their talent. Last year was our biggest and best on record, with over 25,000 people attending. If you know someone who could be the next star from Ipswich – encourage them to apply for their chance to play in front of thousands and get their name out there!”

Applications open at 10am on Monday 16 January 2023 and close at Midnight on Friday 24 March 2023.

A selection committee will review all applications and inform successful applicants on Wednesday 12 April 2023. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications, the Council is unable to provide any feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
