Applications open for summer Ipswich Weekender events

Published22nd May 2023

Local businesses and community groups are invited to apply for funding to host music themed events as part of the summer 2023 Ipswich Weekender.

£500 per event is available to help organisers to hold music events in Ipswich on 30 June or 1 July as a preview in the lead up to Ipswich Music Day in Christchurch Park on Sunday 2 July.

The application deadline for expressions of interest is midnight on 1 June. Events must be of a musical nature and be a social event for residents and visitors to enjoy in Ipswich.

Councillor Neil MacDonald, Ipswich Borough Council Leader, and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “The aim for our series of four seasonal Ipswich Weekenders is to enhance the visitor, retail, and night-time experience in Ipswich, increasing the visitor numbers in the Town Centre, and providing activities for all the community to enjoy.

The first Ipswich Weekender in March saw hundreds of people enjoy a climbing wall and caving experience on the Cornhill. The summer Weekender is all about the enjoyment of music in a social setting as a boost for hospitality venues in the town centre and local community venues.”

The Expression of Interest form and further information can be found on the Ipswich Borough Council website.
