TV star Claire Sweeney is joining an already stellar cast at the Regent Theatre when the feel-good musical Crazy For You comes to Ipswich, it was announced today.
High energy, high kicking and gloriously glamorous, the acclaimed Watermill Theatre production of Crazy for You is coming to the Regent next February.
Strictly Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers stars in this multi-award winning, romantic comedy, featuring a fabulous score from the Gershwin brothers’ songbook. He is joined on stage by renowned actress Charlotte Wakefield and, now, Claire Sweeney, who won rave reviews in Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Tell Me On A Sunday. Claire shot to fame in TV’s Brookside.
Crazy For You charts the troubled love story of Bobby, son of a wealthy New York banking family and frustrated Broadway dancer and Polly, daughter of the proprietor of a failing theatre in Deadrock, Nevada. Sent to close the theatre down, Bobby falls for Polly and, in the guise of a Hungarian impresario, decides to save the theatre by putting on a show.
Mistaken identities, heartbreak, happiness and a wealth of memorable tunes, including I Got Rhythm, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It and Embraceable You all feature in this exhilarating celebration of the great Broadway musicals.
Crazy For You is at the Regent Theatre from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th February 2018. Shows at 7.30pm with three 2.30pm matinees.
