Clean-up heroes wanted

Published9th February 2017

A group in Ipswich has picked up the gauntlet after a national challenge was launched to clean up their local communities.

The Friends of Murray Park has joined forces with members of the Borough Council’s South East Area Committee to spruce up the park on Friday 3rd March – the first of the three-day Great British Spring Clean campaign.

Sarah Barber, area committee chair, said: “We were keen to get involved in the country’s biggest clean up campaign and when I contacted the Friends they jumped at the chance. I am hoping everyone on the committee who is free on that day will join in – together we can make a real difference. We will start the clean-up at 11am."

But the search is on for even more spring clean heroes.

The Council might not run to gauntlets but it will loan out litter picks and hi-vis jackets to volunteers anywhere in the town who want to do their bit.

So, if you are keen to clean please email Glynis.wood@ipswich.gov.uk with details of when and where you would like to take part between 3rd and 5th March. All equipment will be provided on the day but you do need to register your event.
