New workshops to help give people life-saving skills are being held in Ipswich this summer following the phenomenal success of Save A Baby’s Life sessions.

The programme is being rolled out in Ipswich as part of the Borough Council’s commitment to helping residents develop their knowledge about life-saving techniques.

Save a Child’s Life workshops will be held on Friday 8th June at Whitton Sports Centre and on Monday 11th June at Gainsborough Sports Centre (both 9.30am to 11.30am).

These will be followed by Save an Adult’s Life sessions on Friday 15th June at Whitton Sports Centre and at Gainsborough Sports Centre (both 9.30am to 11.30am).

There will also be a Save a Life AED, which will teach people how to use a defibrillator, on Monday 25th June at Ransomes Sports Pavilion (12.30pm – 2.30pm).

Andrew Wilesmith, Sport and Leisure Services Manager, said: “We were delighted with the take-up for the Save a Baby’s Life courses and we are now putting on more classes to help parents, family members and carers help save children and adults. Life-saving and first aid skills are so important, as they could save a life. Things like choking can happen at any time and we want to prepare people to be able to deal with these situations.”

After attending the latest sessions, people will know how to deal with choking, drowning and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

The sessions are free but you will need to book by phoning our sports centres on 01473 433655.
