New Kiosk and Café opening in Holywells Park

Published5th April 2023

Ipswich Borough Council has agreed for husband-and-wife team, Jon Shapcott and Sarah Quinton, to run the Kiosk and Stable Block Café in Holywells Park.

The duo has ambitious plans, which will see the Bishops Café and Tearoom providing visitors with a welcome rest stop to enjoy a range of cakes and refreshments.

Alongside the Café and Tearoom, Bishops Parlour will be opening in the Kiosk near to the Play Area, and will serve hot and cold snacks, drinks, plus an array of ice creams and slushies.

The plans also include an area for educational and community use, turning these facilities into a hub for visitors to come and enjoy the wildlife and beautiful surroundings that Hollywells Park has to offer.

Following the launch of Bishops Parlour and Bishops Café and Tearoom, there are plans to open a dog grooming parlour in part of the stables area, where dog owners can relax with a coffee while their pets are pampered.

Opening hours:

  • Bishops Parlour opening daily from 10am to 3pm.
  • Bishops Café and Tearoom opening daily from 8:30am.

Sarah Quinton, owner of Bishops says: “We lived near to Holywells Park for many years so know the area well and are over the moon to be fulfilling our dreams of running our businesses here. We have young children and a dog, so we understand what families visiting the park will need.

“It’s so exciting to bring the stables back to life as a community area, working with Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the Friends of Holywells Park. Working together we can make the most of what this beautiful award-winning park offers.”

Bean Wass & Boss, now merged with Clarke & Simpson, supported Ipswich Borough Council to achieve this letting.
